1947-2024
Larry Joe Herman, 77, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
He attended Savannah High School and after graduation served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. His military service, however, was spent in an air wing as a munitions loader for aircraft. He was stationed for part of his term in England and part in Libya.
After leaving the service, he moved to Mesa, Arizona, and worked in metal fabrication. He opened his own metal fabrication business, Paragon Specialty Products, and moved to Marietta and operated the outdoor sign business for 30+ years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Karl and Garnet (Brewer) Herman of Savannah.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janice (Long) Herman; his daughters, Tamara Herman, Kara Heberling; son in-law Eric Heberling; grandchildren, Jaden Heberling and Amelia Heberling. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard (L.D.) Herman of Gladstone, Missouri.
Larry was a classic car collector and enthusiast. He spent his retirement working on and restoring old vehicles and helping one of his closest friends, Dan Oblosa, with his business, Automotive Technology and Repair, which was housed in the same building as Larry’s metal business. Larry’s hobbies were his cars, vintage weapons, watching Westerns and playing solitaire.
