Howard ODell Ray, 97, passed away on April 27, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A retired officer of the U.S. Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers, Mr. Ray dedicated 36 years of distinguished service to his country, with assignments that took him across the United States and Europe. He was also a proud World War II veteran who served his country with honor during a pivotal time in history.
 Howard was born on May 14, 1927, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Quentin and Opal Ray. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Wanda Ray Frazee.
 In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Ray was cremated. A small, private family service was held at his graveside in the Savannah Cemetery on May 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
 He will be remembered for his dedication, service, and the enduring legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
