An experienced police officer who already lives in Savannah has been hired as the new police chief.Zach Long, 46, was the unanimous choice of the Savannah City Council, with the vote coming after closed session at its Feb. 3 regular meeting.Long is currently employed by the city of Maryville in its Public Safety Department.
