Saddle and Bridle Club seeking to grow

The Pony Express Saddle and Bridle Club is seeking to grow their membership.This is an IRS tax code that allows all donations to a non-profit organization be tax-exempt. We as a club provide all donors with a letter acceptable to the IRS to allow them to "write-off" their donations to the club on their tax returns.The club began in 1953, to provide a family-friendly horse-related activities that the whole family can participate in."This year we are proud to host the South Central States National Versatility Ranch Horse Clinic and Schooling show April 5 and 6," said Cynthia Simon, with the Pony Express Saddle and Bridle Club.

Savage Musicians excel at Districts

The District Solo and Ensemble Contest was held on March 13 at Central High School in St. Joseph.There were a total of 33 students, 26 of them competing in solos and four of them competing in mixed ensembles.The six who are going to state and have achieved a Gold Rating are junior, Codi Barsch with her vocal solo; junior, Kaylee Decker with a trombone solo; senior, Audrey Fuqua with a vocal solo; junior, Maesyn Jones with her clarinet solo; senior, Dayton Peek with a baritone solo; and lastly senior, Sam Whipple with a tuba solo.These students will now perform on May 2 at the University of Missouri in Columbia.Savannah High School also attended the State Large Ensemble Contest on April 1 in Platte City.Sophomore, Mason Mears believes that the band will do pretty well this year at the contest.Congratulations to all the Savage Musicians who are advancing and best of luck in their future competitions..

Electronic Recycling Set for April 12

Presiding Commissioner Brad Jarvis said Andrew County residents can recycle electronics during the one-day event on Saturday, April 12.The Andrew County Recycling Center is located at 501 N, 11th St. in Savannah, Mo.The following types of electronic equipment can be recycled computers, monitors, laptops, keyboards, mice, printers, hard drives, tablets, routers, servers, televisions, VCR/DVD players, cable/satelite receivers, cell phones, home phones, cables, wire chargers, stereos, speakers, radios, turn tables, video gaming systems and controllers.The county will not be accepting large appliances like refrigerators, washers, and freezers but will accept large television sets.Items for electronic recycling can be brought to the recycling center only on April 12..
