T he Savannah Savages snatched their first win of the season last week in Gower as they took down the Bulldogs 20-0. The Savages will be tested once again this week as they travel to Kirksville to take on the 2-0 Tigers.
The Savannah Savages have opened every season under head coach Anthony Hays against a tough non-conference opponent. Last week was no different as the Savages opened 2024 with a 14-12 loss to the Pleasant Hill Roosters.
For the second-straight season, Nodaway Valley was too much for the North Andrew Cardinals to handle as the Thunder pulled away in the second half to a 42-16 win.
The North Andrew Cardinals were never able to truly get on track last season — finishing with a 13-11 record. However, in 2024, the Cardinals bring a strong group of upperclassmen and a new head coach.
The North Andrew Cardinals start the season with a chance at avenging a 24-point loss last season to the Nodaway Valley Thunder. The Thunder and Cardinals both come into the game with talented teams that will be short-handed Week One.
