
Lady Savage basketball takes first in Hamilton Tournament
The girls basketball team took first place at the Hamilton Tournament and junior, Ambi Jones was named the Hamilton Tournament MVP.

The Savannah wrestling team has been preparing for districts and state this whole year. They recently wrestled at the MEC tournament and did very well.
The SHS cheer team had an amazing end to their competitive season by bringing home a National Championship First Place title from JAMZ Cheer Championships. The national competition was held in Las Vegas on Jan.
First year North Andrew High School girls' basketball head coach Audrey Elifrits knew that going into this season that they were not returning two of their starters who graduated."That can be tough losing not only two starters, but two leaders," said Elifrits. "Although I was not with them last season, I know this is a group of girls who have played together for a long time.
GeanAnne George-Evans had a lot excitement going into the 2024-25 cheer season as a new coach."I took over the program at the end of May, so I was really looking forward to getting to know the girls and getting started," she said.Cheer is currently in the downhill stretch of the basketball season."The girls are looking forward to court-warming this coming week," said George-Evans. "North Andrew is also hosting the district games this season, so we are excited about that.
The season continues for the Savannah High School boys' basketball team."I have a young team this year that has the goal to grow and getter better every day," said head coach Jordan Richman of his anticipation for the season. "We have a great group of kids that work really well together.
The archery students at North Andrew continue to improve year after year; an expectation that coach Sara Knorr has every year.The students who stick with the program are dedicated to improving each practice, each tournament, and each year. Their ultimate goal is to make it to the state tournament in either bullseye, 3D, or for some, both tournaments."Last year we had two students make it past the state level and competed at the national level, and one student made it past nationals and competed at the US Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla.," said Knorr.
As the standings prove, the wrestling team has had fantastic results this year.Everyone on the team has been doing a great job. Just recently, seniors Cooper Burnsides and Creighton Cook both got their 150th career win.
This has been a season of growth for the Savannah High School girls' basketball team."I anticipate our girls to work hard, have fun and get better throughout the season," said head coach Cy Musser.Half way into their season, Musser said she feels good with the growth the team has shown. She is looking forward to watching them compete down the rest of the stretch."We have have improved our playbook, our execution and our team defense," said Musser.
Savannah High School girls' swim coach Tammy Kime is hopeful for a repeat of the previous season."Since the core group that qualified for state had no seniors," explained Kime. "The goal is to continue to build upon their performances and character development while adding new swimmers to the team."Kime is aspiring the team to state."For our team, it will take this season's motto "go for the gusto" to achieve state," said Kime.This year the team is focusing on not only time cuts, but also place cuts to make sure they are part of the top 32 to make it to the meet for both individual and relay events."This group will be able to use previous state experiences as foundation and grow from there," said Kime.The team has improved upon getting into the pool for practices seeing as most have had up to nine months away from swimming.
